Rev. Ron Freyer-Nicholas, OSL, and his wife, Rev. Inga Freyer-Nicholas, OSL, moved to Florida from Michigan in 2005, where they had served as Pastors of an American Baptist Church in Saginaw. A clergy team, they have served (separately and together) as pastors "from Maine to California." In 2005 and early 2006, Ron assisted in establishing Fellowship Baptist Church at The Villages, before being called to Pilgrims' in July 2006 as Supply Pastor, in the Interim. Following an extensive search by our Pastoral Search Committee, he was nominated and elected Pastor and Teacher in April 2008.
Ron holds degrees from Lynchburg College in Virginia (BA), University of Pittsburgh (MSIS), and Andover Newton Theological School (MDiv). He has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels at Lynchburg College, Andover Newton, and Milwaukee Theological Institute. He was a medical educator at University of Pittsburgh and University of Massachusetts Schools of Medicine.
Ron was licensed in ministry by Clifton Forge Baptist Church, Virginia, in the Southern Baptist Convention (1968), and the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts (1984). He was ordained to Christian Ministry at First Baptist Church in Norwood, MA, in the American Baptist Churches in the USA (1988). His ordination and credentials are also recognized by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and the UCC-related Alliance of Baptists. In 2006 he was granted Dual Standing in the UCC Florida Conference and full standing and Privilege of Call by the UCC in 2008..
Besides working as clergy and educator, he has over 35 years experience in computing and systems analysis. In his spare time, he repairs and builds computers and builds and maintains websites. At other times he has worked as cafeteria manager, dump truck driver, mobile/modular home designer/salesperson, insurance agent, and as district manager for the Leesburg Daily Commercial.
His bibliography includes authoring, editing, and contributing to works in psychology, computing, medical education, systems analysis, practical ministry, Christian theology, and liturgiology, computer-assisted instruction, and diverse applications in computer software.
Ron and Inga celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in 2006. They have three children and (so far) five grandchildren. 2008 is the 20th anniversary of their ordination. They live at Continental Country Club, Wildwood.
